| Certification Announcements Main Highlights NEW! Important Recertification Update / Important: Updated PCI™: Reference Materials / Sponsor Certification Exams NEW! Administration of the PSP Exam in Spanish - May 2008 May 2008 will be the first time that the Spanish PSP exam will be available to test candidates in Spanish-speaking locations. Candidates will also have a new Spanish handbook, which combines both CPP and PSP application and exam information. Information on sponsoring an exam CPP and PSP handbook and application NEW! Important Recertification Update The Professional Certification Board (PCB) is pleased to announce that the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit will be the new standard of measure for calculating recertification credits. After extensive benchmarking and review of the various systems used by similar credentialing bodies, the PCB decided the CPE proved best suited to the ASIS International certification programs. The CPE recertification system will go into effect January 1, 2008 for all designations - Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), and Physical Security Professional (PSP). Included in the updating, is content from the Protection of Assets (POA) Manual, which has also undergone rewriting and has produced enough material to be added to the PCI™ exam. The new study forms will be in effect for individuals preparing to test in 2007. This updating helps to ensure that the references remain current and accurately reflect the current security environment. VA Reimbursement Benefit for PSPs™ and PCIs™ The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has recently approved the PSP™ and PCI™ exam for reimbursement through the G.I. Bill education benefits. Up to a maximum of $2,000 per test can be recompensed in exam costs, but not to exceed the actual cost of the test. Benefits can still be received to retake a test that was previously failed. Electronic applications available online at www.gibill.va.gov (click on Electronic Application) OR call 1-888-442-4551 to request VA Form 22-1990. Chapter Update - Sponsor a CPP™, PCI™, or PSP™ Exam Does your Chapter wish to sponsor a CPP, PCI, and/or PSP exam in 2008? The requirements to do so are: 1) the Chapter is in good standing with ASIS International; 2) The certification department must receive your "Request to Sponsor" form for by January 31, 2008 for the May 3 exam date and June 30, 2008 for the November 1 exam date.
The dates for the examinations in 2008 will be May 3, and November 1. Application submission deadline dates for the May exam is March 1 and for the November exam it's September 1. Any applications received after the deadline dates will not be considered. They will be held until the next scheduled exam. Exciting New Agreement Between ASIS and the US Air Force The US Air Force Security Forces Directorate has officially announced its intention to certify as CPPs™ over 1,000 officers, senior non-commissioned officers, and civilians with a GS-9 or higher rating.
