Best Chapter Certification Activities

While many certified professionals wish to know more about the certification-related proceedings and initiatives of other chapters, most can only attend one or two seminars a year and do not have the time to scour the Internet to find the various chapter and regional sites containing this information. This page will make it easier for CPPs®. PCIs®, and PSPs® to keep abreast of the other chapters and other developments regarding the certification programs by compiling as much information as possible in one place.

By facilitating more frequent communication between chapters, participation in important aspects of the program will become more common and lively, leading to increased visibility and recognition for the designation.

We hope that this page will be up and running shortly. In the meantime, John Gehrlein, CPP®, a member of the ASIS Professional Certification Board, suggests that chapters and/or regions periodically honor their certified members. Here are several of his ideas:

  • "Hold a special dinner meeting in honor of all Certification Representatives in your chapter or region. If the budget permits it, provide this at a discount or even free of charge for certified members.
  • "Offer discounts on chapter seminars to certified members in good standing.
  • "Recognize those who pass the CPP®, PCI®, and PSP® examinations by rewarding them with a token gift, such as an inscribed pen, merchandise from the ASIS store, or lapel pin.
  • "Send a letter to the employers of all newly certified members explaining the importance and value of ASIS designations.
  • "Organize a trip for certified members to a facility of particular interest to security professionals. I have been on a casino security tour in Atlantic City, visited the First Union Sports Center in Philadelphia (where the Flyers and 76'ers play, and been shown the QVC Shopping Channel campus. Not only are these sorts of activities fun, they're also professionally enriching."
